In order to meet demand, the LNS is now seeking a forward driving Clinical Microbiologist for the service of Bacteriology, Mycology, Antibiotic Resistance monitoring and Infection Prevention and Control. The candidate will provide clinical leadership in microbiology, enhance liaison with the hospitals and promote antibiotic stewardship in Luxembourg. The candidate will further develop laboratory capacity and, within the context of a multidisciplinary team, participate in international and national monitoring networks and research. The position will be available immediately in the LNS as a full-time position.
The “Laboratoire national de santé” (LNS) is a public institution operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. It is organized as a multidisciplinary institute which, along with an administrative department, includes six scientific departments related to the fields of morphological and molecular pathology, genetics, medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine and health protection (www.lns.lu).
The purpose of the LNS is to deliver clinical expertise and develop analytical and scientific activity related to the treatment, diagnosis, prevention and monitoring of human diseases. Furthermore, the LNS fulfils a role as national control or reference laboratory.
The department of microbiology at the LNS is progressive, dynamic and innovative, housed in purpose built, state of the art facilities of the highest standards. The department offers a very large range of technical equipment, including a Maldi-Tof, a SIRSCAN, a complete molecular biology platform including NGS facilities and a dedicated BSL level three laboratory. It is a key player in Luxembourg’s national strategy to combat antimicrobial resistance: “Plan National Antibiotiques 2018-2022”. The LNS operates in a multidisciplinary and international scientific environment, mainly including the University of Luxembourg and its Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB – http://wwwde.uni.lu/lcsb) as well as the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH – https://www.lih.lu). Participation in research is actively encouraged and the candidate will be supported in developing as a clinical leader.
