Press release sent on 21 January 2025 – The Board of Directors of the Laboratoire national de santé (LNS), under the Vice-Presidency of Dr. Jean-Claude Schmit, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Stéphane Gidenne as Director. He will officially take office on March 1, 2025.

A career marked by expertise

Dr. Stéphane Gidenne, who holds a degree in pharmacy from the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and an MBA from EM Lyon, has extensive experience in the fields of medical diagnostics, management and public health. After working as Head of the Hematology Department at the Legouest Military Hospital in Metz, he joined the Ketterthill Laboratories in September 2008 as a pharmacist-biologist, before becoming Managing Director in 2014, a position he has held ever since. He also served as President of the Board of Directors of the Luxembourg Federation of Medical Analysis Laboratories (FLLAM).

His career as a whole has given him a strategic vision and in-depth knowledge of a diagnostic laboratory and the Luxembourg healthcare system, which are essential assets when it comes to leading the major transformation projects of the LNS.

A key step for the LNS

With its six diagnostic departments and more than 400 employees, the LNS plays a key role in the fields of diagnostics, research and public health in Luxembourg. The arrival of Dr. Gidenne marks a new stage in the development of the institution, which intends to strengthen its role as a key player on the national and European scene.

Dr. Jean-Claude Schmit, Vice-President of the Board of Directors, said: “The appointment of Dr. Gidenne is a decisive step for our institution. His leadership and strategic vision will enable the LNS to continue to develop and assert its role in Luxembourg’s public health ecosystem”.

Dr. Gidenne will be supported in his duties by Dr. Thomas Dentzer, Chief Operation Officer, and Ms Safaâ Moujahid, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, who have held the positions of Deputy Directors of the institution since 2023.
