The Board of Directors of the National Health Laboratory (LNS) announces the appointment of Dr Thomas Dentzer as Director of the institution, effective as of 15 May 2026.
A career dedicated to public health in Luxembourg
Graduating from Rockefeller University in New York (PhD in Virology), within a Nobel Prize-winning laboratory, and from Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (Master’s degree in Biology), Dr Thomas Dentzer has extensive expertise in public health in Luxembourg.
Before joining the LNS, he held several positions in the fields of life sciences and healthcare, notably at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), Deloitte (Healthcare & Life Sciences), Luxinnovation where he led the Life Sciences sector and the Luxembourg BioHealth Cluster, as well as at the Directorate of Health, where he was responsible for strategic coordination, digital health and international relations. During the pandemic, he also supervised the national testing strategies.
For more than three years, Dr Dentzer served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Deputy Director of the LNS, making a significant contribution to maintaining operational continuity in a context of organisational and operational challenges.
An appointment supporting the transformation of the LNS
This appointment reflects a commitment to stability and the continued transformation of the LNS.

In his new role, Dr Thomas Dentzer will be responsible for defining and driving a strategic vision for the institution, leading key transformation projects, strengthening internal dynamics and addressing the institution’s future challenges in support of operational excellence.
To achieve these objectives, Dr Dentzer will be supported by Ms Safaâ Moujahid, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer and Deputy Director of the institution, as well as by the future Chief Operating Officer, who will also join the management team as Deputy Director.
