Genetics and genomic medicine
Genetics and genomic medicine help us better understand the origin of certain diseases and identify possible genetic predispositions. At the LNS, genetic analyses contribute to the diagnosis of rare diseases and certain cancers, the assessment of familial risks, and the guidance and monitoring of treatments. Specialised consultations also support patients and families in understanding the results and their implications.
NIPT
NIPT (Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing) is a simple blood test performed from the 10th week of pregnancy that can screen for certain chromosomal abnormalities safely, early and non-invasively.

Constitutional genetics
The LNS National Centre of Genetics (NCG) covers all areas of human genetics, including clinical genetics, genetic counselling and a wide range of genetic diagnostics, from conventional karyotyping to next-generation sequencing (NGS).
The NCG offers genetic consultations and diagnostics to individuals and their families, for example in the context of familial cancer predisposition, rare hereditary diseases, prenatal genetics and family planning. In addition, we continuously develop new techniques and expand our diagnostic portfolio to ensure state-of-the-art patient care.
In this video, we explain what constitutional genetics is.
