About LNS


The « Laboratoire National de Santé » (LNS) is a public institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. As a multidisciplinary institute, the LNS consists of four scientific departments in the fields of medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine and health protection. In addition, the LNS is also hosting the National Center of Pathology and the National Center of Genetics. The LNS has its premises in Dudelange since 2013.

The mission of the LNS is to develop analytical and scientific expertise related to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases and to ensure the role of a national control or reference laboratory as well as to carry out forensic tasks. The institution also contributes to the development, harmonization and promotion of technical laboratory methods in close collaboration with local and international analytical laboratories. Within the scope of its responsibilities, the LNS is also leading research and teaching activities in collaboration with partners in Luxembourg and abroad.

With its modern infrastructure in line with the recent evolution of medical and analytical sciences, the LNS is an ambitious laboratory with innovative projects that increase its expertise in public health.

The context:

As part of strengthening the accountant teams, we are looking for an accountant. The full-time position is offered on a fixed-term contract (12-month) with the possibility of evolving into a permanent contract (subject to budget availability).

The ideal candidate will be responsible for all accounting activities, following the established procedures within the various services and departments. Under the supervision of the head of the finance service, the candidate will collaborate with administrative and financial services, as well as scientific departments, suppliers, auditors, and administrations.

The primary mission will be to ensure rigorous monitoring of the LNS’s financial flows and to prepare all mandatory declarative documents, including tax returns and Intrastat declarations.



In collaboration with the accounting team:

  • Perform routine accounting entries (supplier invoices, inventory, fixed assets, expense reports, etc.);
  • Monitor supplier accounts;
  • Prepare the periodic and annual closing of accounts and assist the service head during the annual audit;
  • Assist/prepare mandatory declarations (annual accounts, VAT returns, Intrastat declarations);
  • Manage various administrative tasks and internal client requests;
  • Provide occasional assistance with the consolidation of accounting processes;
  • Ensure compliance with current accounting procedures.

In collaboration with the controlling team:

  • Ensure that analytical accounting data is accurate as it serves as the source for profitability analyses and budget work carried out by the controlling team.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BAC+3) in accounting or any other related field
  • At least 3 years of practical experience in commercial accounting, analytical accounting, and Luxembourgish indirect taxation
  • Proficiency in at least two of the following four languages: Luxembourgish, French, German, English
  • Knowledge of accounting software. Knowledge of the Odoo ERP is an advantage
  • Proficiency in common Microsoft Office tools (Excel in particular)
