About us

The Laboratoire National de Santé is currently seeking a Communication Specialist/Officer to join the Department of Microbiology on a full-time basis for a one-year fixed-term contract.

The LNS is a reputable public institution overseen by the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. As a multidisciplinary institute, it houses various scientific departments, including medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine, and health protection, along with hosting the National Center of Pathology and the National Center of Genetics. The LNS has its premises in Dudelange since 2013.

The mission of the LNS is to develop analytical and scientific expertise related to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases and to ensure the role of a national control or reference laboratory as well as to carry out forensic tasks. The institution also contributes to the development, harmonization and promotion of technical laboratory methods in close collaboration with local and international analytical laboratories. Within the scope of its responsibilities, the LNS is also leading research and teaching activities in collaboration with partners in Luxembourg and abroad.

With its modern infrastructure in line with the recent evolution of medical and analytical sciences, the LNS is an ambitious laboratory with innovative projects that increase its expertise in public health.

Your responsibilities:

As a Communication Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting a European Union project aiming to further develop and expand Whole Genome Sequencing for viral pathogens and to address antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Working closely with the project manager and the project team, your responsibilities will include:

Designing and implementing extensive strategies for sharing, utilizing, communicating, and reaching out effectively in the context of the project.
Overseeing, upkeeping and enhancing the project’s communication platforms, which include websites, social media, and newsletters.
Planning and managing exciting outreach events, including workshops and meetings, to engage the public effectively.
Creating concise, persuasive communication reports that convey information clearly and leave a positive impact.

Qualifications & Skills:

Min. Bachelor’s degree in communication with 1 year of experience in a similar role.
An experience within an academic institution or the healthcare industry will be considered as a very strong plus.
Proficiency in digital communication, including managing websites and social media outlets, as well as organizing events.
Proactive and diligent task management abilities.
Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrate qualities of rigor and a strong team player.
Exceptional integrity.
Excellent command of English and French is essential
