The National Health Laboratory is recruiting a full-time and permanent Head of Communication (m/f) to manage all aspects of internal and external communication for the institution.

About the LNS


The « Laboratoire National de Santé » (LNS) is a public institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. As a multidisciplinary institute, the LNS consists of four scientific departments in the fields of medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine and health protection. In addition, the LNS is also hosting the National Center of Pathology and the National Center of Genetics. The LNS has its premises in Dudelange since 2013.


The mission of the LNS is to develop analytical and scientific expertise related to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases and to ensure the role of a national control or reference laboratory as well as to carry out forensic tasks. The institution also contributes to the development, harmonization and promotion of technical laboratory methods in close collaboration with local and international analytical laboratories. Within the scope of its responsibilities, the LNS is also leading research and teaching activities in collaboration with partners in Luxembourg and abroad.

With its modern infrastructure in line with the recent evolution of medical and analytical sciences, the LNS is an ambitious laboratory with innovative projects that increase its expertise in public health.


Your responsibilities:


Under the responsibility of the General Director, the Head of Communication (m/f) will be responsible for designing and implementing all communication within the LNS, whether it be external, internal, institutional, or digital. Your main tasks will include:


  • Ensuring the valorization and visibility of the institution at the national and international levels.
  • Defining the communication policy of the institution.
  • Developing a communication strategy in line with the institution’s vision and strategic objectives.
  • Translating the communication strategy into an annual communication plan detailing the list of internal and external communication activities to be carried out according to the target audience and various means of communication (Internet, website, social media, newsletters, newspapers, printed materials, television, radio, intranet, etc.).
  • Planning and elaborating the annual budget for all communication plan actions and ensuring resource management and investment planning.
  • Creating content and producing communication materials for different communication channels.
  • Planning, organizing, and coordinating events to promote LNS activities and strengthen relationships with patients, clients, and partners.
  • Analyzing the performance of implemented communication actions and their Return On Investment (ROI) in relation to the allocated resources (human, budgetary).
  • Monitoring media trends in the sector to find new innovative ideas to integrate into the communication plan, particularly related to the emergence of digital.
  • Acting professionally in case of crisis to preserve the institution’s reputation and image with the public, clients, partners, authorities, etc.
  • Managing relations with the media and the press.
  • Managing and uniting multidisciplinary teams (with multiple internal and external stakeholders), particularly in event organization.
  • Instilling the institution’s culture among all employees and supporting change.
  • Supporting LNS in the execution of its CSR strategy.


Your profile:


  • You have a Master’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, or a similar field.
  • You have at least 10 years of professional experience in communication, ideally in the health or science sector.
  • You have managerial experience.
  • You are fluent in French and English, both orally and in writing. Proficiency in Luxembourgish and German will be considered an asset.
  • You have excellent command of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • You are familiar with graphic design tools such as the Adobe suite, WordPress, Canva, etc.
  • You have a good understanding of different communication channels and their usage according to target audiences.
  • You are skilled in writing quality content.
  • You are capable of managing communication projects and working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • You have strong communication skills with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the local industry sector and Luxembourgish media is an advantage.
