About the Laboratoire national de santé (LNS) and about NCG

The “Laboratoire national de santé” (LNS) is a public institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. LNS is organized as a multidisciplinary institute and supported by a professional services team, the LNS includes four scientific departments in the fields of medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine, and health protection, in addition to hosting the National Center of Pathology and the National Center of Genetics.

The LNS is based at Dudelange, with state of the art, modern infrastructure in line with recent developments in medical sciences. Its objective is to develop scientific and analytical expertise related to the prevention, diagnosis, and monitoring of human diseases. Its ultimate mission is to serve patients and citizens and offer excellence in health care.

The National Center of Genetics (NCG), at the Laboratoire National de Santé, is responsible for human genetic care in Luxembourg. One of the goals of the NCG is to build up genomic medicine and precision oncology, using a state of the art sequencing facility, and to provide high-level health care to the Luxembourgish population. The NCG is a major stakeholder of two national public health programs: the Plan National Maladie Rare and the Plan National Cancer.

As part of the Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics and Sequencing platform of the NCG, our Bioinformatics team fulfills a wide variety of tasks in order to support our molecular biologists and clinicians in the diagnostics and follow-up of both hereditary and somatic genetic diseases. In addition, as part of the LuxGen platform we help to offer state of the art sequencing technologies to both internal and external stakeholders.

 

Permanent contract, full-time, entry date: immediately

 

Our team is looking for a dedicated IT specialist to, in collaboration with the LNS general IT, manage the growing number of dedicated software and hardware solutions used within the NCG.

Main activities

  • Manage installations, configurations and upgrades of software applications
  • Update asset management register for software and hardware systems
  • Participate in the Change Management communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Configuration of Laboratory Information Management System (GLIMS, GEPADO, …)
  • Manage connections of current and future instruments to LNS infrastructure
  • Manage the configuration and maintenance of common computation resources
  • Implementation of monitoring tools for various mission critical parameters
  • Implementation of strategies to guarantee data integrity
  • Review of current setup in regards to GDPR
  • Documentation of IT related workflows within the NCG
  • Help in the setting up of Best Practices

 

Qualifications and skills required

  • A bachelor or master degree in programming, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Broad working knowledge of computer networking, installation, and administration.
  • Fluent in English. Working proficiency in French or German. Luxembourgish is an asset
  • Great analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail
  • Familiarity with some Project management methodologies.
  • Base or advanced knowledge of ITIL processes, mostly Change Management
  • Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer networking and administration, as well as expertise with computer troubleshooting
  • Ideally experience working in the medical field
