Type of contract: Full-time and determined duration contract (CDD)

The Laboratoire national de santé (Luxembourg public institution) is recruiting an IT Engineer (m/f) for a full time (40 h/week) role and a fixed-term contract (from 18 up to 21 months ) for the Department of Microbiology.

The « Laboratoire national de santé » (LNS) is a public institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. As a multidisciplinary institute, the LNS consists of four scientific departments in the fields of medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine and health protection. In addition, the LNS is also hosting the National Center of Pathology and the National Center of Genetics. The LNS has its premises in Dudelange since 2013.

The mission of the LNS is to develop analytical and scientific expertise related to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases and to ensure the role of a national control or reference laboratory as well as to carry out forensic tasks. The institution also contributes to the development, harmonization and promotion of technical laboratory methods in close collaboration with local and international analytical laboratories. Within the scope of its responsibilities, the LNS is also leading research and teaching activities in collaboration with partners in Luxembourg and abroad.

With its modern infrastructure in line with the recent evolution of medical and analytical sciences, the LNS is an ambitious laboratory with innovative projects that increase its expertise in public health.

 

For an upcoming EU project in the field of pandemic preparedness, we are looking for an IT engineer with a strong commitment to collaboration, team working and personal development.

The successful candidate will be competent to explore, develop and implement APIs, software tools and databases compatible with inhouse infrastructure in a collaborative approach together with health care scientists.

The position offers and requires a high range of creativity, motivation and room for professional development.

Responsabilities

  • Liaise with LNS IT department to ensure compliance with LNS digitalization strategy including appropriate computing, network and data storage infrastructure
  • Design, develop, and execute high quality full-stack software solutions to address project related needs including databases and data visualization
  • Supporting the development of a sustainable data management plan for clinical, epidemiological and research data
  • Being proficient in the setup and administration of Linux operating systems/server
  • Being familiar with software testing strategies and its application
  • Ensure compliance with IT development and security guidelines and standards

Qualifications & Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate a high level of technical skill and intellectual rigor and be able to cope with multiple and changing demands in a fast paced and unpredictable environment.

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in IT or related field with more than 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Having a solid experience in software development preferably using some of the following technologies:
    • Container: Docker, Kubernetes
    • Backend: Python, Flask, Django, SQL & NoSQL technologies, Java
    • Frontend:HTML, JavaScript, CSS
    • CI/CD: GitLab Integration
    • Data visualization: R, Tableau
  • Strong computer science and software development fundamentals
  • Knowledge of IT security and digital health system standards is a plus
  • Fluent in spoken and written communication in English
