Medical Secretary (m/f) Ref°50900

Type of contract: Full-time and undetermined duration contract (CDI)

We are currently looking for a Medical Secretary (m/f) for a full-time permanent position (40h/week), for our Forensic Medicine Department, Forensic Genetic Service.

ABOUT THE LABORATOIRE NATIONAL DE SANTÉ

The LNS is a major player in Luxembourg’s healthcare sector, serving the country’s patients, doctors and hospitals. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Social Security, the LNS is a multidisciplinary public institution organized around six medical departments, two of which are designated as national diagnostic centers for human genetics and pathology respectively.

The LNS employs around 400 highly qualified staff with diverse backgrounds. The main purpose of the LNS is to develop analytical activities and scientific expertise relating to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases; to act as a national control or reference laboratory; and to carry out forensic missions. The LNS also collaborates with the University of Luxembourg and other biomedical research institutions, both nationally and internationally, on research and teaching activities.

In particular, in the field of diagnostics, the LNS covers the following fields of application: medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine, environmental medicine, morphological and molecular pathology, and clinical genetics, as well as sequencing for rare diseases, oncology and pathogens.

ABOUT THE SERVICE

The mission of the Forensic Genetic Service is to carry out expert analyses at the request of the judicial authorities, using molecular biology and biochemistry tools to enable objective interpretation of evidence during investigations at crime scenes and in court. The service is also accredited by OLAS (Office luxembourgeois d’accréditation et de surveillance) to ISO 17025.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recording of missions, seals and follow-up of their administrative validation;
  • Assisting the laboratory in describing seals and taking samples;
  • Entering written and dictated information;
  • Reception activities (reception of stakeholders, telephone, appointment and meeting room management, etc.);
  • Drafting of meeting minutes and reports;
  • Mail/email processing and follow-up;
  • Translation of documentation/information from German and Luxembourgish into French and vice versa;
  • Drafting of correspondence in French, German and Luxembourgish;
  • Preparation of files for experts (expert witness appearance at court / presentations, etc.), administrative proofreading;
  • Application of procedures and work integrated into the Quality Assurance approach.

This list of tasks is not intended to be exhaustive. Tasks may vary according to the specific needs of the department.

 

PROFILE

  • Holder of at least a high school diploma (BAC), classical or general or equivalent;
  • Perfect written and spoken French is essential;
  • Fluency in German with ease of translation FR<->DE;
  • Knowledge/understanding of Luxembourgish;
  • Knowledge of English is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software is essential;
  • Motivation and flexibility in work schedule;
  • Structured working method, self-analysis, thoroughness and attention to detail;
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently;
  • Ability to handle several tasks at the same time, manage priorities and withstand stress;
  • Good communication skills, ability to listen and to use authority and diplomacy when required;
  • Ability to learn, analyze and apply procedures already in place and/or constantly evolving;
  • Professional awareness, sense of responsibility, discretion and confidentiality;
  • Excellent teamwork skills and team spirit.
