Medical Secretary (m/f) Ref°632

Type of contract: Full-time and determined duration contract (CDD)

We are currently looking for a Medical Secretary (m/f) for a temporary position (CDD) of 1 year, on a full-time basis (40h/week), for our Forensic Medicine Department, Forensic Medical Service.

ABOUT THE LABORATOIRE NATIONAL DE SANTÉ :

The LNS is a major player in Luxembourg’s healthcare sector, serving the country’s patients, doctors and hospitals. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Social Security, the LNS is a multidisciplinary public institution organized around six medical departments, two of which are designated as national diagnostic centers for human genetics and pathology respectively.

The LNS employs around 400 highly qualified staff with diverse backgrounds. The main purpose of the LNS is to develop analytical activities and scientific expertise relating to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases; to act as a national control or reference laboratory; and to carry out forensic missions. The LNS also collaborates with the University of Luxembourg and other biomedical research institutions, both nationally and internationally, on research and teaching activities.

In particular, in the field of diagnostics, the LNS covers the following fields of application: medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine, environmental medicine, morphological and molecular pathology, and clinical genetics, as well as sequencing for rare diseases, oncology and pathogens.

ABOUT THE SERVICE:

The Forensic Medical Service’s main tasks are the performance of forensic autopsies, forensic examinations of corpses, as well as visits to crime scene locations whenever necessary. In addition, for preliminary investigations, the service conducts clinical examinations on living persons. It also carries out various assessments concerning forensic matters and provides training in forensic medicine.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the administrative management of files related to forensic medicine activities on a daily basis;
  • Handle correspondence and communications, both written and telephonic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality;
  • Ensure effective follow-up on analysis requests;
  • Welcome visitors and respond to telephone calls by providing relevant information or directing inquiries appropriately;
  • Record, manage, and meticulously track analysis samples;
  • Compose meeting reports and summaries accurately;
  • Transcribe dictated reports of autopsies and forensic medical expertise.

This list of tasks is not intended to be exhaustive. Tasks may vary according to the specific needs of the department.

PROFILE:

  • Holder of a high school diploma (BAC) or an equivalently recognized degree;
  • Previous experience as a secretary for at least 1 year, ideally in the medical field;
  • Proficiency in computer tools, especially Microsoft Office software;
  • Ability to work independently while adhering to established procedures;
  • Keen sense of confidentiality and professional discretion;
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and effectively manage administrative tasks;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and French. Knowledge of Luxembourgish and English will be considered an asset.
