Medical secretary (m/f) Ref°647

Type of contract: Part-time and determined duration contract (CDD)

We are currently looking for a Medical secretary (m/f) for our department “National Center of Genetics” for a temporary position of 1 year and on a part-time basis (20h/week).

ABOUT THE LABORATOIRE NATIONAL DE SANTÉ:

The LNS is a major player in Luxembourg’s healthcare sector, serving the country’s patients, doctors and hospitals. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Social Security, the LNS is a multidisciplinary public institution organized around six medical departments, two of which are designated as national diagnostic centers for human genetics and pathology respectively.

The LNS employs around 400 highly qualified staff with diverse backgrounds. The main purpose of the LNS is to develop analytical activities and scientific expertise relating to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases; to act as a national control or reference laboratory; and to carry out forensic missions. The LNS also collaborates with the University of Luxembourg and other biomedical research institutions, both nationally and internationally, on research and teaching activities.

In particular, in the field of diagnostics, the LNS covers the following fields of application: medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine, environmental medicine, morphological and molecular pathology, and clinical genetics, as well as sequencing for rare diseases, oncology and pathogens.

RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Efficiently schedules patient appointments according to established parameters as defined by office policy and procedure ;
  • Registration of patient records and evaluation of acceptance of administrative criteria ;
  • Standard secretarial work (taking and dispatching phone calls; photocopies, mail, etc…) ;
  • Maintaining, updating and sending records, files, and database management ;
  • Greets, registers, and assists patients in a professional manner ;
  • Responsible for obtaining and maintaining complete and accurate registration records ;
  • Responsible for answering all phone calls, providing routine information to callers and transferring calls to appropriate individual in a courteous and professional manner ;
  • Prepare and maintain planning ;
  • Reporting of non-conformities, handling of complaints.

The above list is not exhaustive and further tasks could be added according to the needs of the service.

PROFILE:

  • Secondary school diploma (BAC) or equivalent recognized qualification;
  • At least 1 year’s proven experience in an administrative or secretarial role;
  • Very good oral expression skills in French and English are required, with Luxembourgish and German considered as an asset.
