About the Laboratoire national de santé (LNS)

The “Laboratoire national de santé” (LNS) is a public institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. LNS is organized as a multidisciplinary institute and supported by a professional services team, the LNS includes four scientific departments in the fields of medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine, and health protection, in addition to hosting the National Center of Pathology and the National Center of Genetics. The LNS is based at Dudelange, with state of the art, modern infrastructure in line with recent developments in medical sciences. Its objective is to develop scientific and analytical expertise related to the prevention, diagnosis, and monitoring of human diseases. Its ultimate mission is to serve patients and citizens and offer excellence in health care.

We are looking for a full-time medical secretary or medical administrative assistant for a one year  contract to strengthen our medical team in the National Center of Genetics. You will be the first point of contact for patients and maintain the smooth running of consultations and patient follow-ups. You will also be the administrative support for the doctors.



  • Physical and telephone reception of patients
  • Administrative management of patient files: receipt of prescriptions, results management, type medical reports in French
  • Schedule medical appointments and handling calendars
  • Maintain electronic medical records: encoding and updating patient data in our system
  • Management of work areas: consultation rooms, waiting rooms and offices
  • Preparation of team meetings: agenda, note taking and minutes of medical meetings
  • Various secretarial tasks (mail, email, fax, etc.)

The above list is not exhaustive and further tasks could be added according to the needs of the department.



  • Baccalaureate in secretariat or additional professional training of medical secretary or equivalent
  • Professional experience (as a medical secretary would be an advantage)
  • Knowledge of the usual office software
  • Excellent command of English and French or German. Luxembourgish will be considered an asset.
