We are currently looking for a Quality Coordinator for the department of Microbiology (m/f) for a permanent position on a full-time basis.

As a Quality Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our documentation system throughout the department to ensure compliance with ISO/EC 17025 et ISO  15189.

About the Laboratoire national de santé

The LNS is a major player in Luxembourg’s healthcare sector, serving the country’s patients, doctors and hospitals. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Social Security, the LNS is a multidisciplinary public institution organized around six medical departments, two of which are designated as national diagnostic centers for human genetics and pathology respectively.

The LNS employs around 400 highly qualified staff with diverse backgrounds. The main purpose of the LNS is to develop analytical activities and scientific expertise relating to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases; to act as a national control or reference laboratory; and to carry out forensic missions. The LNS also collaborates with the University of Luxembourg and other biomedical research institutions, both nationally and internationally, on research and teaching activities.

In particular, in the field of diagnostics, the LNS covers the following fields of application: medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine, environmental medicine, morphological and molecular pathology, and clinical genetics, as well as sequencing for rare diseases, oncology and pathogens.

 

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY

The Department of Microbiology at the LNS has around 50 employees and is divided into three departments:

  • Bacteriology, Mycology, Antibiotic Resistance and Hospital Hygiene.
  • Virology and Serology
  • Sequencing of pathogens

The Department of Microbiology offers reference laboratory activities in partnership with various other public and private laboratories in the country.

Your responsibilities:

 You will report to the Head of Department in collaboration with the Heads of Services and quality referents as well as to the Chief Quality Officer. In this context, your responsibilities are to:

  • Organize and ensure the maintenance of Quality Management System (QMS) throughout the department and to harmonize the services to achieve a unified accreditation.
  • Manage the Quality Management System (QMS) in the department and maintain its effectiveness according to the latest versions of ISO 15189 and ISO/EC 17025 standards.
  • Follow-up, analyze and correct non-conformities, complaints, customer satisfaction surveys, etc. in collaboration with the Quality Referents.
  • Inform and report any issues or risks to the Head of Department (such as resource needs).
  • Monitor, update, implement and disseminate relevant legislative regulations.
  • Plan and participate in the follow-up of various audits (internal and accreditation).
  • Prepare and participate in management reviews andquality meetings.
  • Inform and train the laboratory staff on quality-related topics.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g Quality Management) or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of ISO 15189 and ISO/EC 17025 standards
  • Relevant work experience would be an asset
  • Fluency in French, while good English, German and/or Luxembourgish skills would be an asset
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in document management software and tools.
  • Effective communication and training abilities.
  • Understanding of data privacy and security regulations.
  • A basic knowledge of Microbiology is a plus
