Technical Responsible (PhD) (M/F/X) Ref°184

Type of contract: Full-time and undetermined duration contract (CDI)

For the Service Environmental Hygiene and Human Biological Monitoring (Department Health Protection) in a full time position (40h/week)

with an open-end contract starting at the earliest convenience.

Responsabilities 

You report directly to the head of the Service ENVIROH :

  • Identify opportunities for scientific networking in line with our servicing and be the ambassador for the department on this at national and international level ;
  • Support the elaboration and the implementation of strategic plans ;
  • Strong experience in analytical method optimization and the development of new analytical techniques (e.g., non-target and suspect screening) for the analysis of organic and inorganic pollutants and/or their metabolites in human and environmental samples.
  • Excellent knowledge of analytical instrumentation, including GC-MS, GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, ICP-MS/MS, and GC-QTOF, with the ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot technical issues ;
  • Dissemination and promotion of results through presentations at national and international conferences and publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals ;
  • Support and coordinate internal and external projects (e.g. implementation of a new LIMS), ensuring effective execution and delivery ;
  • Participate in several tasks and meetings in the framework of international science-policy programs (including PARC and EIRENE).

Profile

  • PhD in Chemistry with a minimum of 5 years of experience in human biomonitoring related to environmental and/or occupational exposure, or a closely related field.
  • Extensive experience in analytical chemistry ;
  • Demonstrate versatility and hands-on experience with a range of mass spectrometry techniques: GC-MS; GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS,, ICP-MS, ICP-MS/MS and GC-QTOF ;
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 15189 and/or ISO 9001 ;
  • Experience in leading projects and in project management ;
  • Proven track in peer-review international scientific publications in environmental / occupational / medical toxicology ;
  • Proven track of writing and submission of scientific projects – success in attracting funding is considered an asset ;
  • Proven track of networking and of obtaining results in major consortia at international level or in organisations with a mixed hierarchical and matrix organisational structure ;
  • A perfect fluency in English (oral and written) and fluency in French (oral and written).
  • Additional knowledge of German and/or Luxembourgish is considered as an asset.

  • Strong analytical thinking ;
  • Strong networker and able to obtain results in multidisciplinary and/or more complex organisational structures ;
  • Strong communication skills ;
  • Excellent team working and people skills.
