Direction

The LNS Direction is composed of a Director, a Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO) and a Chief Operating Officer (COO).

 

 

Dr Thomas Dentzer, Director

Dr Thomas Dentzer holds a PhD in Virology from The Rockefeller University in New York and a Master’s degree in Biology from Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg im Breisgau in Germany. He has extensive experience and expertise in the field of public health in Luxembourg.

Before joining the LNS in 2023 as Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO), Thomas Dentzer successively held the positions of postdoctoral researcher at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), consultant at Deloitte developing Healthcare & Life Sciences activities, Head of the Life Sciences sector at Luxinnovation and Director of the Luxembourg BioHealth Cluster. He also worked for the Directorate of Health, where he was responsible for coordination, strategic development, digital health and international relations, and served as a lecturer at the University of Luxembourg.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Thomas Dentzer was notably in charge of the national screening strategies in Luxembourg.

For three years, Thomas Dentzer served as Deputy Director and COO of the LNS. In this role, he was in charge of operations, coordinating and supporting the main business processes of the departments making up the multidisciplinary institute, with a focus on efficiency and performance. His remit also included quality and IT. He encouraged the implementation of digital approaches to improve both operational robustness and efficiency, while fostering a digital culture and data-driven approach within the LNS.

In addition to his activities at the LNS, Thomas Dentzer is actively involved in several organisations in the healthcare sector. In particular, he is co-leader of the National Task Force on Digital Health for Healthcare Transformation and serves as a board member of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the European Health Emergency Response and Preparedness Authority (HERA) and the Standing Committee of the WHO Europe Regional Committee (SCRC).

 

Safaâ Moujahid, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer

Safaâ Moujahid holds a degree in Biotechnology from Polytech Marseille and a diploma in Management and Strategy from KEDGE Business School. She previously worked for PwC, Deloitte and KPMG in Luxembourg as a consultant in the healthcare and public sectors.

As part of her assignments, Safaâ Moujahid worked on the development, structuring and implementation of strategic projects in Luxembourg. During the pandemic, Safaâ Moujahid was responsible for coordinating nationwide projects on behalf of the Health Directorate, such as managing the procurement of vaccines and medicines against COVID-19 in collaboration with the European Health Emergency Response and Preparedness Authority (HERA), and the Large Scale Testing programme.

Most recently, she was a director at PwC Switzerland, where she worked as an external consultant for one of the United Nations agencies on the definition of a global framework to strengthen the preparedness, response and resilience of health systems in the face of health emergencies.

In her role at the LNS, Safaâ Moujahid is responsible for all financial and administrative aspects of the LNS. In particular, she oversees the finance and purchasing department, human resources, risk management, legal affairs and the LNS’s infrastructure and logistics. She ensures that processes are optimised and that the resources allocated to the public institution are managed efficiently.
