Pregnancy, newborns and reproductive health
Analyses and consultations to support pregnancy, pregnancy planning and the first days of life.
- Genetic consultations during pregnancy:
During pregnancy, assessment of a risk or abnormality in the foetus, with proposed tests and support for parents in understanding the results. - Genetic consultation before pregnancy:
Assessment of genetic risks before pregnancy to guide reproductive choices and, where necessary, propose appropriate examinations. - Newborn screening:
An analysis performed a few days after birth to detect certain rare but serious diseases early, before symptoms appear. It consists of a simple blood sample taken from the baby at the maternity ward and analysed at the LNS. If no abnormality is found, the parents are not contacted; if the result is suspicious, additional examinations are promptly proposed.
