About the Laboratoire national de santé (LNS)

The “Laboratoire national de santé” (LNS) is a public institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. Organised as a multidisciplinary institute and supported by a professional services team, the LNS includes four scientific departments in the fields of medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine and health protection, in addition to hosting the National Center of Pathology (NCP) and the National Center of Genetics (NCG).

The LNS has its premises in Dudelange, with state of the art, modern infrastructure in line with recent developments in medical sciences.

Its objective is to develop scientific and analytical expertise related to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases. Its ultimate mission is to serve patients and citizens and offer excellence in health care.

Job description

The LNS aims at accreditation for its services and for overarching quality measures for all processes including administration. The Chief Quality Officer (CQO) is responsible for all quality management measures at the LNS. She/he will coordinate all processes with the CODIR-Quality, which is a joint collaboration of department heads and department quality officers. The CQO will report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) (

Key Responsibilities

  • Design the roadmap for accreditation and harmonize all steps within the CODIR-Quality
  • Review existing processes and identify areas for improvement in close collaboration with the process owners
  • Coordinate the team for planning, implementation, management, and continuous development of the LNS quality policy and objectives
  • Maintain and further develop the LNS electronic quality management system
  • Coordinate the internal and external quality auditing system
  • Oversee the LNS complaints procedure
  • Support the Operational Risk Management Committee in their decision making

Your profile

  • Master´s degree in quality management or equivalent
  • Specialist knowledge of quality management systems and knowledge of the relevant accreditation schemes (with a major focus on ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 15189)
  • At least 5 years of experience in quality management in an accredited medical laboratory
  • A previous leading position in the formation and management of a quality assurance system as well as a track record in successful accreditation of a larger and diverse organisation would be considered as an asset
  • Good knowledge of relevant regulations (GDPR, Luxembourgish social security system, etc.)
  • Proven knowledge of professional quality management and project management tools
  • Experience as an auditor (internal or external) is a plus
  • Advanced IT application skills for MS Office, laboratory information management systems (LIMS), document management systems such as M-Files and for statistical analysis
  • Highly developed language skills (French, English, German, Luxembourgish)
