The Laboratoire national de santé is recruiting an experienced technical lab manager (PhD in Chemistry) (m/f) for the Unit Biological Surveillance and Environmental Hygiene of the Department Health Protection in a full time position (40h/week) with a permanent contract starting at the earliest convenience.
About the Laboratoire national de santé (LNS) and the Unit of Biological Surveillance and Environmental Hygiene
The LNS is a public institution operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. The LNS ensures the role of a national control or reference laboratory and develops analytical and scientific expertise related to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases. As such, the LNS contributes to the development, harmonization and promotion of laboratory methods in collaborative projects with other laboratories and develops research and teaching activities in association with partners in Luxembourg and abroad.
The LNS is a multidisciplinary institute organized in six scientific departments, i.e. 1) morphological and molecular pathology, 2) genetics, 3) medical biology, 4) microbiology, 5) forensic medicine and 6) health protection, as well as one administrative department (www.lns.lu). The LNS houses in a new modern building equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure in line with the recent requirements in medical and analytical science.
The Unit Biological Surveillance and Environmental Hygiene is part of the Department Health Protection and consists of a multidisciplinary team with strong expertise in indoor pollution, food monitoring, migration analyses, and biological and occupational surveillance. The laboratory is ISO 17 025 accredited and working towards a supplementary accreditation ISO 15 189 for the biological surveillance activities.
The LNS is now looking for a driving technical manager (French: ‘responsable technique’) who will manage the day-to-day activity of the lab, increase activity, develop laboratory capacity and dynamically involve this multidisciplinary team in international and national monitoring networks and research.
