The Laboratoire national de santé (Luxembourg public institution) is recruiting a Project Manager (m/f) for a full time (40 h/week) role and fixed-term contract (from 18 up to 21 months) for the Department of Microbiology.

The « Laboratoire national de santé » (LNS) is a public institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. As a multidisciplinary institute, the LNS consists of four scientific departments in the fields of medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine and health protection. In addition, the LNS is also hosting the National Center of Pathology and the National Center of Genetics. The LNS has its premises in Dudelange since 2013.

The mission of the LNS is to develop analytical and scientific expertise related to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases and to ensure the role of a national control or reference laboratory as well as to carry out forensic tasks. The institution also contributes to the development, harmonization and promotion of technical laboratory methods in close collaboration with local and international analytical laboratories. Within the scope of its responsibilities, the LNS is also leading research and teaching activities in collaboration with partners in Luxembourg and abroad.

With its modern infrastructure in line with the recent evolution of medical and analytical sciences, the LNS is an ambitious laboratory with innovative projects that increase its expertise in public health.

 

Job description

The Department of Microbiology is looking for a Project Manager in the framework of an EU project aiming to further develop and expand Whole Genome Sequencing for viral pathogens and to address antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The candidate will work in close collaboration with the Scientific Officer of the Department and the project team to achieve the following key missions:

  • Coordination and planning of the activities in the project in collaboration with the project team to ensure the delivery of the project
  • Project evaluation, monitoring and risk management
  • Follow-up of the project for timelines, milestones and deliverables
  • Follow-up of the project budget and expenditure in liaison with the financial department
  • Ensure impact of the project in collaboration with the project team and Outreach Project Officer
  • Provide project documentation for monitoring and reporting

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Master or PhD in Sciences with at least 1 to 2 years experience in a project management role in an academic institution or health care industry
  • Experience in the field of Microbiology would be an asset
  • Demonstrated scientific writing skills and project reporting skills
  • Strong and proactive monitoring of assigned tasks and sense of piorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in the coordination of scientific teams.
  • Flexibility, strong motivation and team player
  • Languages skills: excellent command of English and French, additional knowledge of German and/or Luxembourgish would be an asset.
