The Laboratoire national de santé (Public Institute in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg) is recruiting a Secretary (m/f)  for the Department Health Protection in a part time position (20h/week) with a permanent contract starting at the earliest convenience.

 

About the Laboratoire national de santé (LNS) and the Department Health Protection

The “Laboratoire National de Santé” (LNS) is a public institution under the supervision of the ministry of Health in Luxembourg. Organised as a multidisciplinary institute and supported by a professional services team, the LNS includes four scientific departments in the fields of medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine and health protection, in addition to hosting the National Center of Pathology and the National Center of Genetics.

The LNS has its new premises in Dudelange, with state of the art, modern infrastructure in line with recent developments in medical sciences.

Its objective is to develop scientific and analytical expertise related to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases. Its ultimate mission is to serve patients and citizens and offer excellence in health care.

 

About the Department “Health Protection”

The Department Health Protection consists of three Units:

  • The Unit “Surveillance Alimentaire” consists of a multidisciplinary team with strong expertise in analytical chemistry, molecular biology and food microbiology. The Unit is ISO 17 025 accredited and hosts 14 National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) in food control.
  • The Unit “Environmental Hygiene and Human Biological Monitoring” has strong expertise in indoor pollution, occupational hygiene and human biomonitoring.
  • Since last year, the Department Health Protection has started to build up a new Unit, i.e. the Unit “Medical Expertise and Data Intelligence”. This Unit hosts the medical, epidemiological and toxicological expertise in the Department, and this as an added value to the technical laboratory activities in the two other Units. The Unit also hosts the team of field sampling nurses who go on-site to take samples in the houses of patients for the national surveillance programs of indoor pollution in Luxembourg.

The Department Health Protection is now looking for a secretary to support the quickly expanding team,  the Department head,  the Quality Coordinator, as well as the Unit heads.

Job description

As a secretary, you are responsible for :

  • Encoding financial orders and following-up on orders according to the requirements of LNS Central Financing;
  • Administrative support of the Department head and Quality Coordinator, as well as the Unit heads;
  • Organization of business trips and travels;
  • Translating (scientific) document and writing letters in 3 languages: French, German and English;
  • Organizing and managing the appointments;
  • Encoding data from questionnaires and interviews in the appropriate database/statistical software;
  • Mail handling ;
  • Documents classification.

The above list is not exhaustive and further tasks could be added according to the needs of the department.

Technical Profile

The candidate has to have :

  • Assistant-oriented training (level BAC or BAC+2);
  • Proven experience (5 years ) as an assistant or similar administrative role
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft editorial tools (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and others);
  • Working proficiency in French, English and German (oral and written) . Luxembourgish is an asset;
  • Editorial proficiency and good communication skills (oral and written).
