The Service of Gynaecological Cytology of the National Center of Pathology has received confirmation of continued accreditation according to ISO 15189 by the Office Luxembourgeois d’Accréditation et de Surveillance (OLAS) until the end of 2022, allowing at the same time to celebrate 10 years of accreditation of the service.

The ISO 15189 standard is an international standard specifying the quality and competence requirements for medical biology laboratories, but also for pathology laboratories. It covers the entire examination process (pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical), thus guaranteeing the highest quality of the services provided.

The cytology – gynaecology service, under the responsibility of Dr Marc Fischer, is accredited for the following analyses: cervical cytology, as well as the following molecular biology analyses: high-risk HPV test and partial genotyping 16, 18, 45; screening tests for the following sexually transmitted diseases: Chlamydia Trachomatis, Neisseria Gonorrhoeae, Mycoplasma Genitalium.

Obtaining and maintaining this accreditation requires a huge workload. Huge thanks to the service’s team for their constant and joint effort to achieve quality work.

Maintaining this accreditation confirms the position of the LNS as a centre of excellence and expertise in the service of health.
