Last 11th of May 2022, the Laboratoire nationale de santé had the great pleasure of welcoming Dr. Dag Harmsen, a renowned physician specialised in clinical microbiology and infectious disease epidemiology. The researcher, who published the world’s first study applying Bruker’s MALDI ToF MS system to microbiological diagnostics, has been a professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Münster, Germany, since 2004. Dr. Dag Harmsen is well known for having provided popular bioinformatics solutions in applied microbiology for more than 20 years, such as MRSA typing (JCM 2003; 41:5442) or the MIRU-VNTR service for M. tuberculosis typing (Nucleic Acids Res 2010; 38: W326).

Several staff members from both the Microbiology & the Health Protection Departments accompanied Dr. Dag Harmsen in a guided tour of the microbiology and food monitoring laboratories. After the tour, the group gathered for a very interesting and enriching discussion, joined by stakeholders.
