Engineering Trainee Days at the LNS

Engineering Trainee Days at the LNS
2021 11-10

Last week, during the All Saints’ holiday, the forensic toxicology unit of the LNS forensic medicine department had the pleasure of hosting 2 young high school girls as part of the Engineering Trainee Days (ETD), a joint initiative of the  Association Luxembourgeoise des Ingénieurs, Architectes, Scientifiques, Industriels (da Vinci) and Jonk Entrepreneuren Luxembourg (JEL), with the support of the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth.

The main objective of the ETDs is not to organise a traditional company visit, but to give one or more secondary school pupils, over two days, an insight into the daily work of a scientist or engineer and thus inspire the participants to choose a career in the fields. The programme gives them an insight into the professional, linguistic and interpersonal requirements.

Thus Gaia Miodini from the European School II and Jessica Silva Oliveira from the Lycée Hubert Clement were able to discover the exciting work of our scientists during these two days. The two students were very interested, followed all the explanations and even took some notes! It seems that they really enjoyed spending 2 days of their holidays in a scientific background with our team!

A big thank you to Dr sc. Michel Yegles and his team for opening their laboratory to these young science enthusiasts! Let’s hope that this experience will help them to choose a scientific career in the future. Once again, a fine example of a successful educational mission in which the LNS was able to participate!
