During March, the Microbiology department of the LNS invited 10 key staff members to attend a series of training delivered by the Centre de Formation Continuée en Sciences et Mathématiques (CeFoSciM) of the University of Namur, aiming to train people working in BSL-3 in the management of risks related to the use of pathogenic and/or genetically modified agents. This training provides the necessary information to ensure that conditions are in place for the application of biosafety measures.
At the end of this 5-day training, participants have acquired the legal basis governing the use of biological agents. Additionally, they also received all the information required to identify the biological risks in order to propose appropriate measures for containment, protective equipment, and management of the transportation of infectious materials and waste.
The participants have received an official certificate of Biosafety and Biosecurity training.
