Identification of a salmonella outbreak
2019 03-13

The LNS contributed to the identification of a salmonella outbreak that affected babies in France, Belgium and Luxembourg. In particular, the epidemiology and microbial genomics team from the microbiology department carried out the characterization of bacterial strains by next generation sequencing and the food monitoring team of the health protection department also tested milk powders on sale in Luxembourg.

You’ll find the concerned publication “Joint ECDC-EFSA Rapid Outbreak Assessment “Multi-country outbreak of Salmonella Poona infections linked to consumption of infant formula” on the ECDC website.
