The Laboratoire national de santé (LNS) is now offering the possibility to book hair sampling online. Customers who have received a request for a toxicological test from the police, the court, a doctor or the département de la mobilité et des transports (ministry of mobility and public transport) can use the portal to quickly and easily make an appointment for a hair sample to be taken at the LNS. The booking can be made in three languages: French, German, and English.
Hair analyses are carried out at the LNS by the Forensic Toxicology Unit of the Department of Forensic Medicine, which is the national and also international reference laboratory in this field. The department applies internationally recognised methods that are always updated to the latest scientific findings in order to conduct the analyses.
Hair samples can be analysed to determine possible drug addictions or to establish an alcohol consumption profile. Amongst other things, the tests contribute to the decision on whether or not to revoke a driving licence.
Technology contributes to user-friendly processes
The portal is another example of the LNS continuing to consistently apply its principle of implementing user-friendly digital tools. In this context, the portal is more than just a simple booking tool. Customers who register will be able to request a digital copy of their results, thus going paperless and environmentally friendly.
Dr sc. Michel Yegles, in charge of the Forensic Toxicology Unit comments: “The LNS sees itself as a laboratory at the service of the country and its people. This includes making our services easily accessible to all the people living in Luxembourg and its surroundings. With our new online portal, we are able to even better meet this requirement as a service, using state-of-the-art technology beyond analysis. In short, we bring together professional expertise and efficient processes to create a user-friendly experience.”
